All her life, Mya-Rose Craig has loved birds – so much so that she’s also known as Birdgirl. She was 14 when she set up her charity Black2Nature, and 17 when she became the youngest person to see half of the birds in the world. That year, she also became the youngest British person to be awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science.
Today, she’s an environmentalist, author, diversity activist and ornithologist. Eight years on, Black2Nature is an established charity which takes Visible Minority Ethnic inner city young people out into countryside green spaces. It helps them to engage with nature and connect with the environment, giving them a greater understanding of biodiversity loss and climate change.
Mya-Rose will talk about how a passion can consume you and dominate your life. An ambassador for Bipolar UK, she’ll also discuss her mother’s bipolar disorder and the impact on her mum being sectioned.
