Higgidy was set up by Camilla Stephens in 2003, on a mission to spread her flavoursome, handmade pies to the masses. She started off making pies in her kitchen, selling to family and friends. Camilla and her husband sold their home to raise the start-up capital, and since then, we haven’t been able to get enough of those tasty pies. Higgidy now turns over £24m a year and employs 250 people at its Shoreham base.

Every Higgidy pie is individually shaped and hand finished. It is this that gives the pies their name – the ‘higgidy’ is the uneven finish the pies take on after hand filling. The pies’ flavours reflect the seasons…and the love and dedication with which they are made. Unsurprisingly, Higgidy has gained a loyal and growing community of customers, who love to hear the latest news from the kitchen.

Camilla studied cookery at Leith’s School of Food and Wine before working at Good Housekeeping as a cookery writer. She was Chief-of-Food at the Seattle Coffee Company (now Starbucks).

Camilla and husband James share the management of the company with Managing Director Mark Campbell. After studying architecture at University, Mark spent five years managing the operations of humanitarian relief charities. In 2007 he returned to the UK to join his friend, James, and his wife, Camilla, in establishing Higgidy.

As Managing Director and Co-owner, Mark has overseen many different aspects of the business, from managing the growth of the brand, to leading its commercial direction.
